Seasons of life...

Seasons... We love them and we loathe them, yet they consistently bring about growth, even during the toughest times.
I experienced the loss of my first client. I work with many individuals battling cancer of all types. My client was truly remarkable, despite our brief time together. I had the opportunity to meet some of her family, converse with many of them, and connect with her closest friends - she was deeply loved. She served as a reminder to embrace my true self, live life to the fullest, and hold onto faith. While my heart feels heavy, I am incredibly grateful to have known her.
I am definitely experiencing a season right now.
The summer heat has been quite overwhelming for The Spa Lot, and it adds a layer of stress. Yes!, even your massage therapist can feel the pressure! I clearly recognize what needs to be addressed before next summer. This heat limits my sessions. However, when I’m not working and can’t always get a massage, I find alternative ways to navigate these challenging periods. One of my go-to solutions is spending time in nature. As a bit of a bird and bug nut, being outdoors calms and grounds me, sparking my creativity. If I’m not on the bus, you’ll typically find me on my back patio, writing, researching, gardening. Outdoor office at its best!

Yet, sometimes, seasons overlap; it’s as if one event coincides with another. I’ve learned that they often arrive in waves. Yesterday, I was excited to work. I had a back-to-back session lined up. I even woke up early to head out to the bus, hoping to take some photos inside, for posts later. The air was cool, and a small storm was approaching. On my way to the bus, I couldn't stop thinking how amazing the sessions would be. I call them “Perfect Weather” days—just the right temperature, accompanied by an unexpected rain.
When I got to the bus, I discovered that my front tire was flat. I rushed home to grab my air compressor. When I returned, I began inflating the tire while prepping the bus. However, as I checked the PSI, I heard a hissing sound and felt air escaping from the valve stem. It was leaking! I got one of my kids to drive me back to the bus and follow me to the mechanic. I had to pump it up significantly just to keep it inflated long enough to make it there. Yes, I have a spare tire, but I must admit - I have no idea how to jack up a bus! Some tasks are best left to the experts.
I got the bus to the mechanic, but I had to cancel my appointments, which is disappointing. They were new clients, referred by a wonderful client of mine - thank you, Nichole! I am grateful that they were understanding and rescheduled.
Seasons...
They come and go, sometimes lingering longer than expected. Yet, as they draw to a close, we often gain insight into their purpose. They challenge us - our fears, our willingness to take the next step, and how we respond to them.
The key to navigating all these seasons is understanding what helps you relax, calms your nervous system, and replenishes your energy.
Take time to identify what helps you decompress. Start by booking a massage. Wink. Wink. ;)
This summer has been wild—seriously, Oklahoma has been 🥵HOT! Yet, I’m starting to sense the gentle breezes of fall approaching, and I can't wait! But thats how seasons happen. There is a wave of challenges - but always followed by a huge wave of growth, we just have to learn to ride them out.
I will celebrate two years in business this October, and I can’t wait to mark this milestone! #BigNews
