Humility: Acknowledging one’s place in the world while respecting others. What an eventful week it has been! I spent most of my time in my hometown, Norman, engaging with a wonderful organization, meeting new clients, and connecting with established ones. I wrapped up the week in OKC, where I had the opportunity to present Karma to the massage school I once attended. I spoke to the current massage therapy class about entrepreneurship, and I’m sure seeing the bus was far more exciting than my talk!

I truly enjoy meeting new clients; each one has a unique story that I’ve never encountered before. We all have our individual experiences. I take pleasure in helping others, whether it's easing their mental health or rejuvenating their spirit. There’s an added dimension when someone is in pain, and I can assist them in feeling better. This week, I welcomed a new client who booked a second session with me the next day. I cherished our conversation about food and simple living; it’s refreshing to meet someone else striving to slow down in life. I was also grateful to help her alleviate some ongoing pain she had been experiencing. Each new client brings a variety of ages, life stories, and experiences of both struggle and joy. I find it rewarding when clients encourage me to persist; yes, starting a small business is challenging, but in my profession, it’s all worthwhile when you can truly “feel” you’ve made a difference. A heartfelt thank you to my gentleman client who offered me plenty of encouraging words for my small business. You know who you are, and your support is truly appreciated!

I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the next group of aspiring massage therapists; we definitely need more individuals in this field. This may be a biased opinion, but I believe we should all embrace a more holistic approach to self-care. I remember sitting where they are now, listening to business professionals share their insights. When I began my studies, I had already started crafting my business plan for The Spa Lot, but I didn’t share it until I was nearly graduating. I love my work; I can engage in lively conversations with clients who want to chat, or I can create a tranquil space for those who prefer to drift away and find peace.

I feel incredibly humbled and grateful for the week I had. I’m looking forward to potential new opportunities and clients ahead.

This is the school where I studied massage therapy. Throughout my educational journey, I have attended numerous Anatomy & Physiology classes, and I can confidently say that Susan Scharf is one of the finest instructors I have encountered in this field! She is tough. However, when dealing with the human body, there is absolutely no room for mistakes.

As one of my clients and I discussed this week, life is fleeting. If we don’t take the time to slow down, we risk missing all the little things in front of us that enhance our lives—living in the present is the essence of peace.

I take photos of everything!
